چکیده
Abstract Droplet motion has been a long-standing interest in microfluidics as it is often limited by the high operating voltages, which hampers development of consumer applications. Forces generated liquid dielectrophoresis (L-DEP) can enhance surface wetting, without requiring chemical modification or texturing. This work presents droplet actuating platform to control wetting behaviour water droplets using L-DEP. The exploitation electric fields at solid–liquid interface reduced voltages. voltage be further reduced, low 30 V, introducing lubricant layer minimise contact angle hysteresis, thus smaller L-DEP bulk force. outcomes this study will provide new pathway for developing energy-efficient and reliable platforms clean variety surfaces. A particular application system automobile sector, instance, headlamps, sensors, cameras, door mirrors, front side glass, rear screen.

متن کاملFormation of artificial lipid bilayers using droplet dielectrophoresis.
We describe the formation of artificial bilayer lipid membranes (BLMs) by the controlled, electrical manipulation of aqueous droplets immersed in a lipid-alkane solution. Droplet movement was generated using dielectrophoresis on planar microelectrodes covered in a thin insulator. Droplets, surrounded by lipid monolayers, were brought into contact and spontaneously formed a BLM. The method produ...
متن کاملIsolation of Single Dna Molecule in a Picolitre-sized Droplet Formed by Liquid Dielectrophoresis
This paper reports a novel method to isolate single DNA molecules in an open container filled with oil by using Liquid Dielectrophoresis (LDEP). We successfully demonstrated the formation of 12 droplets (~200pL) from a 0.5μL DNA solution parent droplet. The parent droplet is put on 2 parallel electrodes. When an AC voltage was applied between these electrodes, the droplet deforms in a finger ri...
متن کاملLiquid dielectrophoresis on the microscale
Polarizable liquids respond to a non-uniform electric "eld by collecting preferentially in regions of maximum "eld intensity. This manifestation of dielectrophoresis (DEP) is a wellknown example of the ponderomotive force, with the "eld acting on individual (molecular) dipoles in the liquid. When electrode dimensions are scaled down to &10 to 100 m, liquid DEP makes possible a new type of high-...
متن کاملOptical switch using a deformable liquid droplet.
An optical switch based on a deformable liquid droplet is demonstrated. The device consists of a clear liquid droplet surrounded by a black liquid. In the voltage-off state, the incident light is absorbed by the black liquid. As the voltage increases, the dielectric force reshapes the droplet by uplifting its dome. As the dome touches the top substrate, a clear channel is opened, allowing the i...
